Critical Mass Is Wack. Bikes Belong to the Hood, Not Hippies

"Then, last month, I went to Amsterdam for a friend's birthday party. I was amazed: Everyone rode bikes, everywhere. I saw 80-year-olds peddling along beside young mothers with two and even three small children perched on various parts of their bikes, and dads trundling off to work in business suits and nice Italian shoes. The Dutch, I later learned, conduct 30 percent of all their trips to work, for errands, socially by bike. In America, that figure is less than 1 percent." -Slate (11-29-05)
Me myself personally, I had a brief fling with bicycles this fall as well, thanks to my man Ian. He rode this expensive...errr, valuable "fixed-gear" bike and thought it/he was the shit. Let me tell you...that bike was the shit. He ganked it from a liberal arts college in Ohio (not OWU, shout out Gooch) off a porch, like they were Chocolate Turtles or an iPod.
Ev rocked the middle-class mountain bike, or whatever rickety piece of shit was sitting next to me on a given day. We rode them to Babysteps, then tripped on our bikes til' 6 AM alone in the streets of the Lo (how stupid do you have to be to trip over the same bike all nite?). I was on some Dave Mirra type shit, ask Ian. And I don't mean hosting The Gauntlet on MTV.
Anyways, if anyone wants to get in the lab with me this weekend and throw some geared up, chained-out tires on some beat up 2-wheelers and get all "X-Games" (without all that awkward Caucasianan male adrenalinene, bro-saying, Nickelback type herbery), HOLLER AT YOUR MANS.
The pipe wasn't Mike Irvin's. Peace. Ev.
